History of the Peace Sign//Parody

On December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese fighter planes. Nearly 20 vessels, eight battleships and over 300 airplanes were destroyed. 2,000 soldiers and sailors died and 1,000 were injured. The next day President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan. Days later Germany and Italy also declare war on the United States. America had joined WWII.

Almost 5 years later…

On August 6, 1945 American drops the world first atomic bomb on Hiroshima and then three days drops another on Nagasaki killing over 120,000 people instantly. Japan surrenders on August 15th.

Today the peace sign serves as a reminder that we didn’t drop just one atomic bomb on Japan.
